  • Dear Members, It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of a much-loved member of the Mordi-Brae family, Mark “Kermie” Curtis. Mark’s connection to our Club goes back many years. As a junior, he pulled on the red and white for 137 games and in 1992 was awarded the Peta Hope Memorial Award - an award recognising those players who get involved, go above and beyond for others and for the Club, and set an example through their conduct, attitude and behaviour. Looking back, it seems a particularly fitting honour for Mark, because those same qualities remained evident in the way he continued to be part of our Club many years later. His connection to Mordi-Brae continued through the next generation of the Curtis family. His son Logan played 62 games for Mordi-Brae between 2009 and 2018, while daughter Kendall played 33 games from 2022 to 2024. His wife Krystal also got involved, volunteering as a Team Runner in 2024. But Kermie’s contribution to Mordi-Brae went well beyond the record books. During the week, he was a familiar face around Walter Galt, often out walking his beloved dog, Dusty. Then on weekends, he was rarely far away, always willing to put his hand up and help, particularly when a Goal Umpire was needed. He was simply one of those people who represent the fabric of the place. A passionate Richmond supporter, a proud Mordi-Brae junior, a volunteer, a footy person and, most importantly, a devoted husband and dad. For a Club that has always prided itself on being about more than just football, Kermie and the Curtis family represent exactly what community football is all about - generations of a family calling the same Club home. Our deepest condolences and love go to Krystal, Logan, Kendall and the entire Curtis family. Thank you for being part of our Club, Kermie. You will be greatly missed around Walter Galt.
