Player Information

Training and Playing Gear

Depending on your age group, training will be once or twice a week for an hour to an hour and a half. The club will advise training day/s and time/s via your team manager.

Players may train in any sports gear they choose, and the club has a range of training clothing available.

We provide your playing jumper, and you will need to purchase Red Shorts and Socks (from the Club), along with a pair of football boots and a mouth guard.

Teams

Before the season starts, your daughter or son will be allocated to a team. Each team has a Coach, Team Manager, Assistant Coach and other team officials as requested by the SMJFL.

Your team manager will be the point of contact for the season, advising you of any volunteer duties for the week, fixtures, team announcements, and other team relevant communications.

Game Day

Games are played across south-east Melbourne, covering Port Melbourne, Prahran, Malvern, Waverley Dingley and suburbs in between. Games are not played at set times each week, however, younger age groups are usually played at earlier times.

Each week, parents are required to help out in a number of volunteering roles to help the team function. These may include umpiring (field* and goal), trainer, runner, scoring, voting for best players, timekeeper, and half-time fruit.

*only for Modified Rules games.

Girls Football

Mordi-Brae is one of the biggest girls football clubs in the Southern Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL). We have had girls only teams since the league launched girls football in 2011. We have teams in under 11-16 age groups.
